Dr. Melanie Vardeman was born and raised in Nacogdoches, TX where she graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1991. She obtained her B.A. in Biology from Texas A&M in 1994. She completed her post-graduate studies in 1999 when she received a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry.

Upon graduating, Dr. Vardeman moved back to Nacogdoches. She practiced at Texas State Optical of Nacogdoches from 1999 to December of 2017. In 2018, Dr. Vardeman was given the opportunity to purchase 20/20 EyeCare from Dr. Don Rudasill and Kay Rudasill. She brings 18 years of optometric experience to our practice.

Dr. Melanie Vardeman has been voted the “Best Eye Doctor in Nacogdoches” in 2015, 2016, and 2017. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry. She has also been a member of several boards and organizations including Nacogdoches Junior Forum, Nacogdoches Lady Lions Club, Sabine Optometric Society (past president), Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, SFA Charter School Board, NISD Student Health Advisory Committee, and NHS Alumni Board. In addition, Dr. Vardeman is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Vardeman is married to Clay Vardeman, also of Nacogdoches. They have a daughter, Jordan, and a son, Landon.
